Synopsis (from Goodreads):
Jaxon is the guy she’s supposed to avoid.
K.C. is the girl he won’t let get away....
K. C. Carter has always followed the rules—until this year, when a mistake leaves her the talk of her college campus and her carefully arranged life comes crashing to a halt. Now she’s stuck in her small hometown for the summer to complete her court-ordered community service, and to make matters worse, trouble is living right next door.
Jaxon Trent is the worst kind of temptation and exactly what K.C. was supposed to stay away from in high school. But he never forgot her. She was the one girl who wouldn’t give him the time of day and the only one to ever say no. Fate has brought K.C. back into his life—except what he thought was a great twist of luck turns out to be too close for comfort. As the bond between them grows, he discovers that convincing K.C. to get out from her mother’s shadow is hard, but revealing the darkest parts of his soul is nearly impossible.…

My Review:
Penelope Douglas has become one of my auto-buy authors. This book had everything I was hoping for, strong character development, electric push and pull between our main characters K.C and Jax and a plot twist that no one saw coming cause I sure didn’t see it coming.
I think anyone that has followed along with this series was just as curious about how a romance between Jax and K.C. would unfold. We have seen a few instances of their interaction together but both of them have been a strong presence on their own. Jax is intense and mysterious. He is wise for his age and different from moody Jared and wise-cracking Madoc, and K.C. is someone that I feel indifferent towards. If you have read Bully, then you understand while I so did not agree with her actions of the outcome I sure as never did dislike her. I was just curious as to what she was really about. In Falling Away K.C. literally steals the book. I could wax on and off about how sexy Falling Away is and trust me when I say this Jax is worth all the wait in the world, but the transition K.C’s character goes through from beginning to end, is why I love reading.
Falling away really surprised the hell out of me. I wasn’t expecting the intensity and depth of Jax and K.C’s story together. While Bully is my all-time favorite in this series Falling Away is coming up a close first, I couldn’t give this book anything less than 5 stars because it made me feel. Plus that teaser for Aflame, the conclusion of Jared and Tate’s story, made my heart hurt very badly. While I’m not ready to say goodbye to this series, because these characters have taken place in my heart and on my kindle and my shelf. I can’t wait to see what tricks Penelope has up her selves for us to discover.
