My Review:
This was a very quick read, which is not always a bad thing, but it felt very rushed to me. It starts with Hayley, who is a recent Grad School graduate, who has been given a great opportunity to start the next big reality tv show - involving MMA fighters. It sounded great to me, in terms of a concept. Doing homework to find the top fighters, interviewing them, and then watching as they fight one another down to the last, victorious fighter? Sign me up! Evan, The Enigma, has been out of fighting for about five years, due to becoming the sole caretaker of his daughter, Everly, upon her birth. Everly's mom is or was a drug addict and gold digger, who only thinks about herself and never cared for Everly or Evan.

From there, the story honestly just moves very quickly with Evan losing his non-fighting job, needing to get in a quick fight to make some money - and Hayley being there to see it and know that he is one of the fighters that she needs. She has to track him down, as he does not want to be found very easily, and he's not too convinced he wants to rejoin the fighting world. Evan does become one of the contenders, however, and the story moves quickly with him fighting to stay in until the last fight. There is not much build up for each fight, and Haley and Evan also end up in bed together, which really felt like it came out of nowhere. There was also a moment – literally, a moment – where Everly’s mom makes an appearance, but then nothing really happened after that. If you are looking forward to a quick, fairly predictable read, then this one definitely moves things along very fast.
