ARC Review: The Honeymoon Prize (Holiday Honeymoon #3)

The Honeymoon Prize by Melissa McClone

Publisher: Tule Publishing, 2014
kindle edition

Synopsis (from Goodreads):
He needs a wife…
Single bodyguard Nick Calhoun has been given an ultimatum by his boss—find a wife or lose his cushy, high-paying job. Clients’ wives are hitting on him and putting Nick, and his boss, in hot water. But monogamy? He’s never been a white picket fence kind of guy, and he’s not about to embrace the happily married lifestyle now. He needs a wife who doesn’t care about his steamy, extra-curricular love life…and he knows just the woman to fit the bill.
She needs a home…
Adalaide Sinclair spent years caring for her ill grandmother. Upon Grammy’s death, she’s stunned to find herself evicted from the only home she’s ever known and labeled a thief by her inheritance-hungry family. Addie needs to find a place to live and a job—fast. So when her childhood friend, Nick, proposes a no-sex marriage of convenience, she puts her dreams of true love and happily-ever-after on hold. Finding Prince Charming can wait a little longer, right?
But will their friendship survive the honeymoon?
When Nick and Addie unexpectedly win a dream honeymoon, they decide to go their separate ways during the ten-day vacation. Too bad a camera crew is waiting for them at the tropical paradise. Acting like a head-over-heels bride and groom for reality TV wreaks havoc on their no-sex agreement…and blurs the line between fantasy and reality. Will Nick and Addie remain married in name only, or will a romantic honeymoon for show turn them into true newlyweds?

My Review:
Nick “proposed” to Addie when they were just 5 years old and 22 years later they’re still best friends. She’s always had a secret crush on him, but he’s kept her at arm’s length and never dared to make a move on her, out of fear of ruining their friendship. Instead, he’s left a very long trail of conquests behind him and seems content to live life without ever settling down.

Addie’s life has been on hold for several years, as she’s been a dedicated caregiver to her grandmother. She suddenly finds herself penniless and homeless after Grammy dies and greedy relatives enter the picture. Nick is a highly paid bodyguard, but his boss wants him to get married because his womanizing ways don’t set well with clients. So, he proposes for a second time, persuading Addie to enter into a marriage of convenience for the next 5 years, as friends only, in order to save Nick’s job and so Addie can have a home and the means to finally begin pursuing her nursing degree.

Addie’s friend, Emily, enters the couple into a Honeymoon Contest and they win first prize…an all-expenses-paid trip to romantic Starfish Island! Their plan is to go their separate ways once they get there, but unbeknownst to them their prize has strings attached…they must allow their honeymoon to be filmed for a new reality show. They decide to proceed with the honeymoon and keep up appearances for the film crew. However, their short and sweet on-camera kisses very quickly turn into hot and heavy real ones. This is an incredibly sweet and fun romance that will keep you turning the pages until you see whether or not these two will continue to just play house once the honeymoon is over or finally allow their true feelings to surface. This is my favorite of Tule’s Honeymoon books so far.
